1000-1300nm SLD laser diode

Overview
IdealPhotonics' 1000-1300nm SLD diode, a broadband light source based on the InGaAs/InP material system, employs a tilted waveguide and quantum dot active region design to achieve a 60-150nm spectral width and 15-100mW output power. It exhibits excellent spatial coherence and <90% polarization in applications such as 1050nm ophthalmic OCT (7μm resolution), 1310nm fiber optic sensing, and 1250nm biodetection. Its innovative "dual-region current injection" structure improves spectral flatness to ±1dB, making it an ideal low-coherence light source for biomedical imaging and industrial detection.Employing an InGaAs/InP quantum dot active region and tilted waveguide structure, a groundbreaking combination of an ultra-wide spectral width of 70-180nm and a power output of 30-120mW is achieved. In three major medical and industrial applications—1060nm whole-eye OCT (5μm axial resolution), 1310nm distributed fiber optic sensing (0.01℃ accuracy), and 1280nm skin cancer detection—its innovative "spectral shaping" technology suppresses power fluctuations to ±0.5dB. Combined with an ultra-low relative intensity noise of -145dB/Hz, this redefines the performance limits of low-coherence light sources in precision medical diagnostics.

1000-1300nm SLD Laser Diode

Superluminescent diodes (SLDs) are semiconductor optoelectronic devices intermediate between lasers (LDs) and light-emitting diodes (LEDs). Similar to laser diodes, SLDs are based on electrically driven PN junctions, which exhibit optical activity under forward bias and produce amplified spontaneous emission over a wide wavelength range. The peak wavelength and intensity of an SLD depend on the composition of the active material and the level of injected current. SLDs are designed to provide high single-pass gain for spontaneous emission generated along the waveguide, but unlike laser diodes, the feedback is insufficient to achieve lasing action.
