Overview
IdealPhotonics' MCT (McCdTe) balanced photodetector is an ultra-high sensitivity infrared detector based on a dual-channel differential structure of HgCdTe material. It achieves common-mode noise suppression by simultaneously measuring two optical signals, operates in the 1-30 μm band, and requires deep cooling (77 K) to maintain single-photon-level detection capability. Its primary applications are quantum optics and infrared interferometry. While offering full-infrared band (1-30 μm) dual-channel differential detection and limiting sensitivity (NEP < 10⁻¹⁶ W/√Hz), achieving single-photon-level signal-to-noise ratio through 77 K deep cooling and common-mode suppression (>60 dB), the system's complexity and cost are extremely high. It represents the ultimate infrared sensor for astronomical detection and quantum experiments.
