Idealphotonics' 700-750nm VCSEL diodes are vertical-cavity surface-emitting lasers (VCSELs), a type of semiconductor laser diode where the laser emission direction is perpendicular to the chip surface (unlike edge-emitting lasers). VCSELs operating in the 700-750 nm wavelength range fall within the near-infrared to visible red light band.Utilizing an optimized AlGaAs material system, a balance is achieved between efficiency and wavelength. They possess unique biological tissue interaction properties, making them ideal for medical sensing. However, their performance falls between visible and near-infrared VCSELs, presenting unique reliability challenges.
