Comb laser diode

Overview
IdealPhotonics' comb-shaped laser diode, an integrated device based on semiconductor gain chips and external optical frequency comb technology, generates equally spaced optical frequency combs (typically 10-100 GHz) through mode-locking or electrical modulation. It achieves stable output of >100 comb teeth in the 1.5 μm communication band. Its innovative "micro-ring resonant cavity feedback" technology compresses the linewidth to <1 kHz, making it a new frequency standard light source for fields such as optical communication, precision spectroscopy, and optical atomic clocks.Employing a hybrid integration of semiconductor gain chips and nonlinear microring resonators, this system generates over 200 uniform comb teeth (spaced 25 GHz ± 0.01 Hz) through a dual-locking mechanism of "electro-optic modulation-optical feedback." It achieves an ultra-narrow linewidth of <100 Hz and ultra-low noise of -170 dB/Hz in the 1550 nm band. Its innovative "self-calibration algorithm" suppresses long-term frequency drift to <10⁻¹⁵, redefining the performance limits of frequency light sources in three cutting-edge fields: 6 GHz terahertz communication (1 Tbps capacity), optical clock networks (10⁻¹⁸ stability), and astronomical spectrometers (0.001 pm resolution).
