Biased detectors
IdealPhotonics' Si-biased detectors are devices that enhance the response speed of silicon PN junctions by applying a reverse bias voltage (typically 5-100V). They utilize a strong electric field to accelerate carrier transit, making them suitable for pulsed laser ranging and time-resolved spectroscopy measurements. They offer fast response (nanosecond-level) and high linearity, but increasing the bias voltage leads to increased dark current (trade-off design).
IdealPhotonics' InGaAs bias detector is a SWIR detector that extends the wavelength to 2.6μm and increases gain through bias, making it suitable for fiber optic sensing and industrial process monitoring. Its APD version can achieve single-photon sensitivity in Geiger mode.Adjustable bias gain (linear/avalanche mode), balancing 2μm band detectivity and GHz bandwidth, requires optimization of breakdown voltage stability.
