Overview
IdealPhotonics' MCT (Metal Cadmium Telluride) amplified detector achieves high-end infrared coverage of 1-30μm by adjusting the HgCdTe composition, requiring a Stirling cooler to maintain an operating temperature of 77K. Its design targets extreme low-light detection for astronomical observations and military targets, such as satellite remote sensing and missile homing.Background limit detection (BLIP) with a 10μm NETD < 5mK is also possible, but this requires complex manufacturing processes and a Stirling cooler.
