Overview
IdealPhotonics' 650-1000nm SLD diodes, based on AlGaInP/GaAs and InGaAs/GaAs material systems, are broadband light sources. Employing a special waveguide structure, they achieve a 40-100nm spectral width and 10-50mW output power. They exhibit excellent spatial coherence and low temporal coherence in applications such as 680nm OCT medical imaging, 850nm fiber optic sensing, and 940nm industrial inspection. Their innovative "cone amplifier" structure increases power by three times, making them a core light source solution for low-coherence optical measurements.Employing AlGaInP/GaAs and InGaAs/GaAs quantum wells with tapered amplified waveguide structures, a unique combination of an ultra-wide spectrum of 50-120nm and high power output of 20-80mW is achieved. In three major low-coherence applications—685nm ophthalmic OCT (axial resolution <5μm), 850nm fiber optic gyroscope (accuracy 0.001°/h), and 940nm industrial inspection—its innovative "chaotic photon injection" technology suppresses relative intensity noise to -150dB/Hz, redefining the performance boundaries of broadband light sources in precision measurement.

The SLD (Superluminescent Diode/SLED) light source combines the high output power of a laser diode with the broad spectral width and low coherence of an LED. Its narrow active layer, similar to that of a laser diode, makes it ideal for fiber coupling, giving it characteristics between those of an LD and an LED. The AS8B series is an SLD module developed for Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) light sources and non-coherent optical measurement equipment.
