Multi-Core Fiber
Multi-core fiber is a new type of optical fiber that features multiple independent cores within a common cladding region. Based on the core-to-core spacing, it can be divided into large-pitch multi-core fiber and small-pitch multi-core fiber. Large-pitch multi-core fiber does not exhibit optical coupling between cores, and it can increase the optical transmission density per unit area of the transmission line. In small-pitch multi-core fiber, the cores are placed closer together, allowing optical coupling to occur. Based on this principle, dual-core sensors or optical circuit devices can be developed for use in fiber optic sensing applications.
